After a several year hiatus, the Peace and Justice Committee was reignited in the Fall of 2020. Each year, the work of the Committee will be based on one or more Catholic Social Teachings.
This year, 2024 - 2025, the focus will be on this Catholic Social Teaching:
Human life is sacred, and the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society.
Every person has a fundamental right to life and a right to those things required for human decency.
A basic moral test is how our most vulnerable members are faring.
The economy must serve people, not the other way around.
Our love for all our sisters and brothers demands that we promote peace in a world filled with violence and conflict.
We are called to protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation.
In the Fall of 2020, the Peace and Justice Committee was reignited with the goal to align its work with Catholic Social Teachings. The efforts have been centered on the Teachings of Option for the Poor and Vulnerable; Care for God’s Creation; and, Solidarity. As a Parish Community we have;
Beginning in September 2023 and throughout 2024, the Committee will focus on th Catholic Social Teaching Call to Family, Community and Participation. If you are interested in learning more about the committee or want to get involved, please join us at one of our meetings. The Comittee typically meets on the 2nd Monday of the month, September through June at 7 PM at Church.
