YOUTH LEADERSHIP TEAM AT ST. THOMAS A'BECKET

One of the major changes that we have developed is the addition of a mini “Parish Council” of sorts to the department. In past years, we have had one Youth Leadership Team that has been responsible for the planning and executing of the events that take place within Youth Ministry. This year, we took that one Youth Leadership Team and divided them up into three sub-committee groups. Each group is responsible for a different aspect within the program. The three teams involved make up the one Youth Leadership Team involved in the planning of the year. Each group meets once a week to discuss their individual needs and ideas, and then all three groups come together once a month to discuss the ideas further. The teams have already been meeting and have come up with some really great ideas!

What are these three teams, you ask? Well, for starters, we have “Team I Believe.” This group of individuals are responsible for the faith formation and catechesis involved within Youth Ministry. Their main goal will be to enhance the faithfulness of the program in a fun and inviting way for all youth. We’re looking at guest speakers, bible studies, prayer groups...the list goes on and on. I am expecting big things from this Team, so keep your eyes open for some pretty big changes!

The next group we have is “The Army of Angels.” This group is solely responsible for the Christian service and volunteering aspects within Youth Ministry. Their goal is to come up with new and exciting service projects we can do as a Youth Group. Whether it be helping out here at the church or within the larger community, this team is on it.

The final group we have established is “The Dream Team.” This team is what we like to call our “marketing” team. They’re creative and full of energy and their goal is to not only come up with new and never-before seen events for Youth Ministry, but also to find a way to make our Youth Group the most inviting group around!
