FAMILY AND CHILDREN FAITH FORMATION (FF)

Our catechism teaches us that every parent is a catechist. Catechesis (instruction in the faith) begins the moment a child is born. "Family members help one another grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel... Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2226)

In order to help all of our parents continue to grow and nurture their spiritual gifts, we are requiring all parents to attend Faith Formation events and activities. Family Home Study parents are already familiar with this; however, in 2011-12, we are now requiring parents with children in classroom instruction to attend Faith Formation events and activities as well. We offer a variety of programs and educational opportunities to assist parents in the instruction of their children, including:

• Classroom based instruction for grades 1-8
• Family Home Study option for grades 1-7
• Preschool Sunday School for ages 3-4 (See the changes in our program for five year-olds.)
• Almsgiving opportunities for kids
• Resources for catechists and parents.
• Learning about L.I.F.E. sessions for all grades. Learning about L.I.F.E. is a family based program on relationships and abuse prevention.

In order to participate in Family and Children Faith Formation Programs, parents must be registered parishioners and must register their children with the Religious Education Programs office. Please read our Tuition Policy, our Attendance Policy and our Snow Day Policy.
