Our catechism teaches us that every parent is a catechist. Catechesis (instruction in the faith) begins the moment a child is born. "Family members help one another grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel... Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2226)
In order to help all of our parents continue to grow and nurture their spiritual gifts, we are requiring all parents to attend Faith Formation events and activities. Family Home Study parents are already familiar with this; however, in 2011-12, we are now requiring parents with children in classroom instruction to attend Faith Formation events and activities as well.
