PASTORAL MINISTRIES
The pastoral ministry team is concerned with the care of parishioners in body, mind, and spirit. They are available to counsel parishioners in crisis, grief, or doubt. They minister to parishioners who are sick, hospitalized, imprisoned, homebound, dying, or grieving. They assist parishioners in understanding Catholic doctrine or in obtaining the support they need from their parish family (meal ministry, funeral luncheon, online obituaries, Communion for the homebound, career resources for the unemployed or underemployed, emergency assistance, etc.).
If you or someone you love needs the support of the Pastoral Ministry team, please contact the Parish Office at (734) 981-1333 or visit the links to the left to contact a member of the pastoral team directly. You can request a prayer intention or a memorial Mass.
The word "pastoral" comes from the Latin word "pastoralis," meaning "of shepherds." The Pastoral Ministry team is concerned with caring for the parishioners of St. Thomas a'Becket as a shepherd cares for her sheep. The Bible often uses shepherds as important figures (King David in 1Samuel 16), as divine witnesses (Luke 2: 8-20), and as parables for the care of God (Matthew 18: 12-14).
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me." -- Matthew 25: 35-36
