2010 LENTEN OFFERINGS AT ST. THOMAS A'BECKET

40 HOURS DEVOTION
Began Thursday, February 18, with 6:00 AM Mass, and ended after Stations of the Cross on Friday, February 19. Highlights on Thursday, February 18 included a Children's Prayer Service at noon, a Taize Prayer Service at 7:30 PM, and Youth Stations of the Cross at 10:00 PM. On Friday, February 19, there was a Youth Prayer Service for Peace at 5:00 AM.

ASH WEDNESDAY
Wednesday, February 17 - Masses at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 7:00 PM with distribution of ashes (also self-impose ashes between Mass times in church.).

BIBLE STUDY: The Book of Psalms: What's In It For Me?
Bible study was held for five consecutive Thursday mornings from 10:00 - 11:30 AM, beginning February 25. Classes were held in the AFF room.

BLACK LENTEN BOOKS
Books were available in the Gathering Area on February 13-14. These books had Daily 6-Minute Reflections for each day during Lent.

BLOOD AND BONE MARROW DONOR DRIVE
The GOOD FRIDAY BLOOD AND BONE MARROW DONOR DRIVE was held at St. Thomas a'Becket on Friday, April 2. Check out the pictures.

BUNNY BAGS OUTREACH PROJECT
Hundreds of parishioners took a white paper bag on March 20-21, decorated it and filled with candy/small toys to be distributed to children in need.

BUNNY BONANZA
The Children's Bunny Bonanza was held on Saturday, March 27, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Family Life Center. Check out the pictures.

CATHOLIC BOOKSTORE
The Catholic Bookstore was available in the Conference Room after all Masses on March 20-21.

FASTING AND ABSTINENCE
The Law of Abstinence obliges those 14 years of age and older not to eat meat. The Law of Fast obliges all those from ages 18 through 59 to refrain their eating to one full meal and two lighter meals for the day. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of both Fast and Abstinence. In the United States, all Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence (no meat).

PALM SUNDAY - MARCH 27/28
Youth re-enactment of the Passion took place during all Masses and palms were distributed.

RECONCILIATION LITURGIES
Private Reconciliation is available every Saturday, from 3:00 - 3:30 PM in the Chapel. There was a Family Reconciliation Service on Sunday, March 21, at 3:30 PM in the church. There was also be a Communal Reconciliation Service (with individual absolution) on Monday, March 29, at 7:00 PM in the church.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
All Fridays of Lent at 7:00 PM, and at 12:00 PM on Good Friday.
