2012 LENTEN OFFERINGS AT ST. THOMAS A'BECKET
40 HOURS DEVOTION
We will have a 40-hour devotion this Lent. Watch the Chancellor for dates and times.
ASH WEDNESDAY
Masses on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 will be at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 7:30 PM, with distribution of ashes. You can also self-impose ashes between Masses in the church.
BLACK LENTEN BOOKS
Books will be available in the Gathering Area. These books have a daily six minute reflection for each day during Lent.
BLOOD DRIVE
We will be hosting a Blood Drive at St. Thomas a'Becket. We traditionally host the blood drive on Good Friday, but that may change in 2012. Check the Chancellor for details. Schedule your appointment online (enter Sponsor Code: CCU) or sign up in the Gathering Space after Mass.
BUNNY BAGS OUTREACH PROJECT
Get a white paper bag on March 24-25, take it home to be decorated and filled with Easter goodies for children in need. Return the bags on March 31/April 1, so that they may be distributed to children in the community.
BUNNY BONANZA
We are looking for a coordinator for the 2012 Bunny Bonanza. The 2011 Bunny Bonanza was canceled because we could not find a coordinator. Please don't let that happen again! Contact csc@abecket.org if you are interested.
CATHOLIC BOOKSTORE
The Catholic Bookstore will be in the Conference Room after all Masses. Check the Chancellor for dates.
FASTING AND ABSTINENCE
The Law of Abstinence obliges those 14 years of age and older not to eat meat. The Law of Fast obliges all those from ages 18 through 59 to refrain their eating to one full meal and two lighter meals for the day. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of both Fast and Abstinence. In the United States, all Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence (no meat).
FRIDAY MASS TIMES
On Fridays during Lent, we will be celebrating Mass at 6:30 AM, 9:00 AM and will have Stations of the Cross at 7:00 PM.
HOLY WEEK LITURGIES
Check out the full listing of our Holy Week Liturgies and opportunities.
PALM SUNDAY - APRIL 16/17
Youth re-enactment of the Passion takes place during all Masses and palms are distributed.
RCIA PRAYER PARTNERS
Our RCIA elect (those unbaptized) and candidates (those previously baptized) have been preparing with great commitment and enthusiasm over many months to be received into the Church this Easter. They need to know the community of faith is behind them, supporting and praying for them. Please, won’t you take some time to pray for them?
RECONCILIATION LITURGIES
There will be a Family Reconciliation Service (with individual absolution) and a Communal Reconciliation Service (with individual absolution). Private Reconciliation is available every Saturday, from 3:00 - 3:30 PM in the Chapel.
ROSARY
During Lent, we will say the Rosary every Friday at 6:30 PM before the Stations of the Cross.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
All Fridays of Lent at 7:00 PM, and at 12:00 PM on Good Friday.
TENEBRAE SERVICE
In commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, you are invited to attend this solemn and moving service on Good Friday (Friday, April 6) at 7:30 PM in the Courtyard Rooms.
