Confirmation for Students
Confirmation is the last of the Sacraments of Initiation. During Baptism, parents chose the faith in which to nurture their child. First Holy Communion provides them with "the food of eternal life". Confirmation strengthens and affirms the faith commitment. "By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1285)
The following checklist will help you to prepare your son or daughter for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
All students will research the life of the Saint that inspired their Confirmation names. Our Catholic Links section has several resources on Lives of the Saints.
You must attend the Confirmation Rehearsal on Thursday, May 2, at 6:30 PM, in the church. The Confirmation sponsor (or parent or other designated adult) must attend with the candidate.
Bishop Donald F. Hanchon will celebrate Confirmation on Friday, May 3, at 6:30 PM.
