ANOINTING OF THE SICK

Purpose and How to Obtain Sacrament
The special grace of the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick has as its effects:

• the uniting of the sick person into the passion of Christ, for his own good and that of the whole Church;
• the strengthening, peace, and courage to endure in a Christian manner the sufferings of illness or old age;
• the forgiveness of sins, if the sick person was not able to obtain it through the sacrament of Penance;
• the restoration of health, if is conducive to the salvation of his soul;
• the preparation for passing over to eternal life.

Dealing with Illness or Funeral Planning
Are you struggling with an illness? Preparing for your own funeral or that of a loved one? Grieving the loss of a loved one? Pastoral Associate Debbie Miller visits the sick at home and in the hospitals, is often present with a person who is dying and their family, helps families to prepare for the funeral and follows up with those who are grieving.
