ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Once someone said to me, “If you think you are fine where you are in your faith, that is when you are in the most trouble!” Well, I never! Yet, I finally had to admit I had become complacent. I went to Mass, was a good person, but my growth of faith was stagnant. I began to search and seek to grow. An exciting new journey of faith began and it has never stopped since.

I learned that weekly Mass is not enough by itself to nurture our faith, as important and central as it is. We need to actively continue to grow in knowledge of our faith and discover its relevance for every stage of life. Our Catholic faith and Sacred Scripture are so rich and deep, but all too often Catholics fail to have a good understanding of them and cannot always make the connection between faith and life. Our faith should define us, shape us and form who we are and how we respond to whatever our daily life brings.

We at St. Thomas a’Becket are committed to to helping our parishioners from age 18 to 118 to continue to grow in faith by providing ongoing and varied opportunities.

As the Director of Adult Faith Formation I work with the parish pastoral staff, the Faith Formation Commission and with the Adult Faith Formation Team to examine, discern and direct a Parish Pastoral Plan for Lifelong Faith Formation.

We offer regular parish-based day Living in Christ retreats, bible studies, book clubs, a Young Adult (YACHT) Ministry, men's fellowship, faith-based small group sharing, occasional parish missions, guest speakers, Know Your Catholic Faith sessions, sacramental and ministry preparations sessions and many other types of opportunities.

Send me an email at laura.broyles@abecket.org to request that you be added to our email list or watch the Chancellor or the website for all new and exciting opportunities!
